Panoramic Images taken in the South West of Western Australia.
5x2 Panoramic Crop. Swirling waters around the rocks in a 5m swell as a storm lashed Cape Naturaliste on the South West Coast. The Angry sky was constantly changing from bright purple to a dark scary grey. Nature at its best. Long exposure shot to capture the movement and mood of the moment.
Late afternoon and the sun was starting to get quite low on the horizon behind and to my left. Was such a balmy, calm beautiful afternoon on the beach near Eagle Bay in the South West of Western Australia. The kids had a ball mucking around on this beach as the waves lapped the shore. Even a few whales came past to say hello whilst I was taking pics. A great way to spend a lazy afternoon after a big lunch at one of the nearby wineries.
Captured this whilst getting ready to leave after taking some early sunrise pics. The sun was just starting to rise behind me and was lighting up the rocks and beach, so I quickly set up and managed this one. Taken halfway between Meelup and Eagle Bay, looking back towards Eagle Bay. If you look closely you can see houses on the hillside that overlook the bay. First light is always a magic time of the delay, the air is cool and the day just beginning. Love it. It’s a pity many are still in bed snoring away missing this special part of the day.
Captured just up from Eagle Bay heading towards Meelup. Clear water and little rocky beaches dominate the coast between Eagle Bay and Meelup. On this particular day I had clear deep blue skies, which just screamed on being the dominate feature along with an interesting stick in the bottom right adding to the composition.
Just up from Meelup is the beautiful locality of Eagle Bay where multimillion dollar holiday homes overlook a truly spectacular bay in the states South West. This image was taken at the end of the bay heading towards Meelup whilst my kids had an absolute ball playing in the sand and waters edge.
Garnet Rock near Meelup Beach in the states South West. Vertical panoramic image of the rock and little wave fall in front of the rocks. Was quite a challenge to balance the Gitzo tripod legs on the rocks to shoot this image. I used a ND filter to allow me to stop down the lens enough to give the water some movement. Whilst you can’t see it in the pic at this size, there are birds sitting on the rock. Whilst I was taking this pic a whale swam by on its annual migration around the cape.
Cropped version. A low tide in winter with an approaching storm made for great conditions to be down at Burns Beach near Perth taking photos. The sand had been washed away from the reef leaving little circular pockets in the reef which added foreground interest on the long exposure shot.
Taken on a recent trip "Down South" at a place called Wyadup Rocks South of Yallingup. Unfortunately I didn't get the cloud formations that I wanted, however this 5 image stich still has some appeal. Its amazing how the place changes. Sometimes all the foreground boulders are actually covered in sand and the shoreline a 100m out to sea.
Up early again. First went to the Quindalup boat ramp to try to get some shots, but the tide was out and some large sand drifts just didn’t work for me. A quick change of plan and I was battling to beat the rising sun as I headed back towards Dunsborough. A mad panic across the beach to shoot off a set of images to stitch together. No matter where I went I couldn’t get away from people or dog tracks. So the name Sand Tracks came to mind. I cosy warm image that reminds me of early morning walks on the beach.
